Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm
A space to slow down when life feels relentless. We work with the thoughts, feelings, bodily tension, and pressures that may be keeping your system on high alert.
One-to-one online therapy
You may be exhausted, stuck in overthinking, or simply overwhelmed by more than your system can hold. You need not have the right words, a diagnosis, or a clear plan before we meet.
I offer one-to-one online therapy for people who want to feel calmer, more grounded, and more connected to their feelings and needs.
Everything we need to heal ourselves already exists within us. Sometimes we need support to slow down, reconnect, and listen with enough kindness for something new to become possible.
About Mika
I am Mika Johnson, a therapist and practitioner of Somatic Experiencing. Through online therapy, I work with people experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, exhaustion, depression, difficulty sleeping, and periods of personal change.
My approach is holistic. I believe mental health is inseparable from physical health, spiritual health, sleep, the food we eat, movement, relationships, and our everyday relationship to our body. We are not separate from our environments, our histories, and the rhythms of our lives.
This means there is no one answer for everyone. To understand your situation and your unique journey, we look at everything within and around you: what is putting pressure on you, what helps you feel safe, and what small changes might support you to feel more grounded.
My background includes Intermediate Somatic Experiencing training, more than 25 years of meditation practice, Zen training, and a degree in Religious Studies from Oberlin College. These experiences inform my work, but our online sessions begin with you and what you need now.
Approach
Perhaps your thoughts will not slow down. Perhaps your body feels tense or restless, even when you are tired. Perhaps sleep has become difficult, or you feel disconnected from yourself, or your relationships. Perhaps you even feel lost.
In online therapy sessions, we work with what you're feeling at a manageable pace. This can include exploring the relationship between thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, daily habits, and the wider circumstances of your life. Or it might include how current events and the news are affecting you.
My work is informed by Somatic Experiencing, mindfulness, and Compassionate Inquiry. These approaches help us understand how the nervous system responds to stress and how old patterns may continue to shape the present.
Meditation, breath awareness, time in nature, and simple body-based practices may be part of the work when useful. The goal is to experiment and discover what helps you return to a greater sense of safety, rest, connection, and choice.
From my perspective, anxiety, exhaustion, shutdown, and overthinking are ways in which the body and mind attempt to cope. Together, we can listen for what they are trying to protect and discover what might help now.
